because councils have limited resources and housing comes first, followed by public areas and so on . roads are a low priority and no inspection teams exists. so roads are left to save budget until such a time as the council is called by a member of the public or written a letter. At that point they have 28 days to act.

I think that it's a perfectly reasonable question that you pose. It seems that too many councils and local authorities do not regard this as a priority. You could consider making representations to your local HSE (Health and Safety Executive) about the worst potholes in your area. You could also ask questions of your lcoal council under the Freedom of Information Act to establish what its policy is in relation to this important matter, and what steps have been taken to determine precisely where the potholes are in the local area, and when remedial action will be taken.

Best wishes, J

Because it takes an era for the right person to get the right form to get the right person to take the form to find the right department where the right person may or may not be in because the fell in a pothole and are on sick leave because they broke their ankle, meanwhile the right person really went on holiday and their boss is on a fact finding mission to outer Polishville to see if the warning signs are in polish just in case (heaven forbid) a polish illegal immigrant should harm himself in said pothole!
Basically its bureacracy gone made -bring back local government? Perhaps? Too many chiefs and not enough indians!

The thing is why wait for someone else to do it? Load up your truck with gravel and fill it up. Obtain media coverage. Shame your county.
