Since cute is a subjective term what you need to ask and thinking about it would lead you to the solution is 'Who do we generally find all babies cute?' How come big eyes in a small head isn't repellant - Well, what if it was, babies might be abandoned - imagine 2 groups of animals - one decides to abandon its babies because it find them ugly and the other find its babies cute and nurtures them lovingly.
Which group is more likely to leave descendents? Finding babies cute is genetically built in to us.

God created all babies including the ones from the animal kingdom really cute so that when the moms are running to get food at various hours, changing them, cleaning them, and listening to them whimper the moms will look into their cute little eyes and say how sweet instead of eating them. Now God had a real sense of humor though cause he knew it would take at least 6 pair of arms to handle the job.Two to burp them, two to pick up all those dropped items in the middle of the night ( the safety pins etc) ., two to hug them but he gave us just two and said use those arms wisely and remember hugs are mandatory.

My brother was so ugly, my mum didn't like to take him out for walks in a stroller. He hasn't changed much since.
My own daughter looked like ET when she was born. Big eyes, wrinkly face. She prettied up quite a bit since then, luckily. Or I would never have got her married off.
I work in a maternity hospital, and I can tell you, there are some ugly babies out there. Parents are just blind to it that's all. Just as well, or there'd be a lot of "accidental" swapping before leaving the hospital.

Have you even noticed the fact that sympathetic cartoon characters, Bugs Bunny is the prime example, has a baby-like face? Big eyes, round head, snub nose, no chin to speak of. This also describes the heads of cats which is one of the reasons people like them It's an accident that has been useful to the cat.

When you seek for cute you would see cute and when you seek for babies, you would not see beebas. Generally babies are not cute nor has ever been.

bcz they are tender & innocent.
and are with such fresh and innocent minds yet to be corrupted with the common human vices and selfish ideas.
hence they r cute and lovable.
here i woudl like to add something. animal babies are all cute no doubt. but human babies..some are bestowed with good looks and some not so much.
but whatever, all these tiny bundles of lovable creatures are all cute in their own unique ways.
hence we say choooooooo chweeeeeeet babies! :-) yeah?

They're not. But the pre-limbic center of your brain is 'wired' to recognize their features as 'cute' so that you want to take care of them. This is especially true in females, where it is known as the 'Mother Instinct'.
It's also the only prayer guys like me have, because I have the kind of face only a mother could love.
