During the shower, yes. But not really the overall amount of blood you lose over the course of the whole period.

I've heard that a lot of gym teachers tell girsl this to try encourage them not to miss gym during their periods. However, it doesnt alwasy work and I would advise that either you don't shower in front of others after gym if you have your period, or you wear a tampon because you could well end up bleeding in the shower or straight after and it could cause lots of embarrassment. Perhaps trying it at home to see what happens will help you decide if it's a good idea for you...my friend told me that at her school her gym teacher said the same thing and she would get really cross at girls using periods as an excuse to miss swimming lessons. One girl was made to do swimming and was told her blood flow would stop, but during the time it took to get from the water to the changing room she left a trail of blood. I'm not saying this would happen, but it's your decision and you have the choice to shower in front of others or not.

Yes, I've noticed that while I'm in the shower whether the water is hot or cold that it will reduce the amount of flow. When you get back out of the shower though then the flow will go back to it's normal amount.

I have never heard this before. I know when you are in a bath it makes sense because water is all around you. This isn't true.
