Use the equation (2-x)^3. Expand this to get (2-x)^3 = 8 - 12x + 6x^2 - x^3. Then set x = 0.1 to get the answer.

Using binomial expansion of (2.0 - 0.1)³ gives us:
2.0³ - (3)(2.0)²(0.1) + (3)(2.0)(0.1)² - (0.1)³

From here, it's easy to do the calculations by hand:

8 - 1.2 + 0.06 - 0.001 =
8.06 - 1.201 = 6.859
