3 people went to a hotel. The bill was Rs. 70. They pay Rs. 25 each, so the total is Rs. 75. Waiter keeps 2 rupees as tip and returns 1 rupee to each. So each of them pay Rs. 24. Now 24*3 is Rs. 72. Waiter tips Rs. 2. So Rs 72+2=74. Balance 1 rupee. Where it is? If u r a brilliant answer this. !!!!

This is typical of the confusion caused by adding figures to the wrong side of the ledger! The three people gave 3XRs.25 each= Rs. 75, to cover the bill of Rs. 70. The changed received was Rs. 5. The waiter got Rs. 2 and the diners got back Rs. 3. So, Rs. 3+Rs. 2= Rs. 5, while the calculation presented in the problem should really be like this. Each diner spent Rs. 25, since he received Rs. 1 against Rs. 25. So the total expense was Rs. 24X3 = Rs. 72. This covers the bill Rs. 70 + Rs.2 to the waiter as tip, and they got back Re. 1 each. This makes, Rs. 72 + Re. 1 X 3 = Rs. 75.

the total money given by the guest was 75 the waiter returned 1+1+1 to each so money left 75-3 i.e 72.From which he takes 2 rs as tip. so money left is 72-2=70 which was the bill.so whats the problem if the question was somethin else i am not able to understand do reply me at mehrotra.pulkit@gmail.com

the addition of the diferences doesn't have to coincide with the real money... i explain myself, evrey one of them pays 25, so they totally paid 75. they should have received 5, so every one of them paid 70/3 = 25 - 5/3= 25 - 1,666666= 23,33333333333. now, if they received 1 from the waiter it means that they paid 23,33333 + 1= 24,333333. And 24,33333 * 3 = 73. and 73 + 2 (what waiter tips) = 75.

if you want to see what they have in their pockets:
each one pays 25. each one receives 1. so they receive 3. and 3 + 2(what waiter tips) = 5. and 70(the bill) + 5= 75, the total amount of money.

there's no relation between the money every one of them paid, and the money that they have in their pockets.

They paid 75. The waiter kept 2. 75 - 2 = 73. The rest is a smoke screen and an old riddle.

This is about the 200'th time this one has shown up her this year.

Yes, they paid out Rs 72. Rs 70 of it went towards the room and Rs 2 of it went into the waiters pocket.

do it in reverse. 75 - 3 (for each person) - 2 (tip) = 70. the other way you miss the boat, as you take 72 PLUS the tip. Thats wrong, its 72 MINUS the tip (you are subtracting, not adding!)
