Cayenne pepper. Anything that will disrupt the Fox's sense of smell should keep them at bay. You want to repel them, not maim them though. Your local extension service or farm supply store should be able to provide some safe products to use. If you own a dog, remember that your dog's sense of smell is related to Mr. Fox

This may sound strange but when I watched "River Cottage" on tv Hugh had a fox problem with his chickens and he had his hair cut and used it to tie around the perimeter of his fence. I suppose the smell of humans might be off putting to a fox

I have a great Idea for a new sport. We could call it fox hunting ! We could all charge around on horses use packs of dogs to chase them, think of all the jobs it would create in the country side.Jolly good fun don't you think.

One good way of doing it = cats hate citrus smells, so if you take a bunch of orange peels and put them in your garden, they may be deterred!
