i have changed the diesel filter , also filled the filter with diesel, but the car will not start, i think it may be airlocked, is it safe to bleed from the point where the diesel is injected into cylinder, or is there something else i have forgotten to do

First after you have cranked on it some and it still won't start try pulling the filter off again and see if it needs more fuel. There should be a bleeder screw somewhere on it. If not the give it some ether, but in very small portions of course. No mattter what anyone says ether will not hurt an engine if it is used in very small doses.

DON'T OPEN THE PIPE TO THE INJECTORS. the tdci engine uses a high tec set up and if you crack open pipes when you don't under stand the system you can do more damage, as long as you filled the filter fully on re fitting the car should go if not try giving it a bit of a tow start if you still have no luck call in the mechanics or you could try some car mechanic forums, they are full of discussions about problems with the tdci engines

Just slacken off the screw (a couple of turns) where the fuel pipe goes into the injector. Underneath the fuel pump there might be a little trigger like lever waggle this until Air stops coming out of the pipe. If there isn't one there just keep cranking the engine over, this may take longer but will get there in the end. It will also help if the fuel tank is full
