I'm on the pill and have been for 5months. I went to my doctor after the first week of bleeding and he said that it was just my body over writting the pills and wanting to have it's own period and to continue with the active pills. I have been and it's been 16 days and i'm still bleeding and it hasn't gotten any lighter.

What do I do??

the exact same thing happened to me! it lasted for about a month before i got really p**sed off!

my doctor changed my pill about 7 times but it ended up happening after a while on all of them - she says my body just isn't compatible with the pill - i'm sure if i kept trying for long enough i would find one that worked but i got sick of it..

my boyfriend and i now use condoms and if we are going away i get a months prescription for the pill Yasmin to delay my period - a couple of months on a pill seems to be fine for me but anymore and my body just gets all out whack. my periods were heavier when i was on the pill too.

usually a prolonged period (Menorrhagia) is caused by too much estrogen. frequently this can happen as a complication with the pill. If you have not missed any of the pills in this time, and there is no risk that you could be pregnant, this isn't a thing you should be ACTIVELY worried about, our periods have only a small portion of blood in them (think of it as the food coloring- just enough to make it 'red')
HOWEVER, after 16 days, your body and the pills should have been regulated, so it's time to call the doctor. it's not a thing to warrent an ER trip (unless you're dizzy, weak, or feeling confused) but do make the apointment as soon as you can.

It's the Pill. Stop using it. You can have a diaphragm inserted or use condoms. You may become anemic if you loose too much blood. Some women can't take the Pill- I was one of them. To help you,, be sure you take a multi-vitamin with iron. Eat enough protein till you decide what you want to do here. Doctors are not always right and the drugs they prescribe are often very dangerous.

Go back to the doctor. A week of bleeding is normal, 16 days is not.

see an ob gyn immediately. you sound like you may be having a uterine hemmmoraige. very dangerous, possibly even fatal. Also some pills can cause blood clots which can be fatal also. go to the ER

the pill can reallt muck up your periods when you first start taking it, but dont worry it will stop eventually and you will go back to having your regular period.

I say go to your bloody (excuse the pun) doctor. this mean massive internal infection and potential internal bleeding... there may be some period reason but like.. you need to seriously get it checked.

I think you need to ask for another doctor who can help you.
