I think you will need to have read the books to fully 'get' Book 7. Since the movies are only up to 4 (#5 doesn't come out until after the publication of book 7) you'll be missing important facts if you depend on those. Maybe you could get away with watching the 4 films and then reading the last 2 books. I'd recommend reading them all, though, the books are a blast ! I found books 5 and 6 a little more difficult to read than the first ones, because there's less action and more character development, but they're very definitely worth it.

Of corse you do! A LOT happens if you've only seen the movies! And if you haven't even seen the movies, then you certainly will be confused. You probably don't know a lot of the characters and and the plot has been running through all of the books. A lot of the films miss out all the important details that are essential to make the books magic.

You definitely need to read the books. IT may seem like it will take you forever, but the books are very fast read. In addition, don't rely on the movies too much. The movies leave out some of the finer details which may make all the difference in Deathly Hallows.

I agree. When I finally gave in around when book 4 came out, I ended up buying all four and reading them in three days. I don't think I ate or slept much. They are REALLY good.

Don't worry. The books are not the dull & boring kind of stuff. Even I developed my reading skills with them. Infact, they're so addictive that U would be reading them even during your exams with homework incomplete, even while eating your food... That happened with me..
