What we (we as in the U.S. and Russia) have are some little items that can 'attempt' to knock and asteroid off it's pathway to earth. I can't remember the name of the system Russia has, but ours was created from a project conducted at a major university many years ago...back in the 70's. It's called 'Project Icarus'. It contains 12 missiles with nuke war-heads that can be turned to the direction of an oncoming asteroid.

No one willl admit to it these days because they cannot chance that another country wil knock them out; ie: China blowing up that weather satellite as they did. So...it's been 'hush, hush' for many years. It was named Icraus because that was the name of the asteroid that was headed for earth.

After you click onto the site, you can go to the bottom and click on Wormwood. This is the reason they titled it that:

Wormwood is the Biblical symbol for injustice. "Ye who turn judgment [justice] to wormwood [bitterness, i.e., implying injustice], and leave off righteousness in the earth" (Amos 5:7). God rewards or punishes according to our works. The injustice of the world earns them Wormwood (Revelation 8:11) in this 3rd Trumpet Judgment. So, the basis behind an asteroid hitting earth was God's way of dealing with injustice.
