I can't tell you with certainty, since I am not familiar with the India music scene, but judging from what you've said, I would say that a few individuals control the recording industry. This usually causes a narrow view on what gets recorded and marketed. I have heard some great traditional music from India...but, the current India pop music is just like you said "Same voice, same music..."

not really. we have a lot of variety.

though the yester years great singers are not here but the budding new singers r not abd either and so are some of the good and talented music directors too.

only those who copy music and pass it off as their own who sound boring.

and remix culture is another thing which is making the music scene bad.

good lyrics and sutiable tunes and meldoy in the tune will always make a number remain popular forever.

once originality is retained and competent music directors & good singers are encouraged there shudnt be any problem with variety in indian music.

with all the hindusthani & carnatic classical, semi classical, light music, film music and the western indo mix music, the ever popular gazals, and the instrumental music and not forgetting the vast variety of various folk styles of music that we have there is a lot of variety in indian music anyday.

Though we have a good quantity of singers , we lack the right quality. We tend to criticise others on their success & are jealous of them.Remixes of good old songs may have filled many pockets but it has not fulfilled the spirit of true music lover.
