It depends on which syllabus the school teaches...the majority however do a modern world course learning about Hitler, Nazis, WW1, WW2, Treaty of Versailles, League of Nations and other related topics. Some may also offer a more dated course focusing on Tudors and Stewards.. Then others do a schools project..in which the areas of study varies...most doing a medicine through history component and another component choosen by the school. GCSE Classic Civilisation looks at periods further back in history like Greeks and Romans...as does GCSE Ancient History!!! Hope this is useful

My school uses the edexcel exam board and we've done coursework on Jack the Ripper (Law and Order in 19th Century London), a bit of cw and will have an exam on The American West, that goes back to the early 1800s and again is based largely on law and order, and we will have exam questions on medicine through time which goes all the way back to pre-history, so covers loads!

But like everyone else has said, different exam boards cover different topics, see what exam board the school uses for history and then look at the syllabus online. By the sounds of it world wars are often covered.

In my history GCSE we studied: The Irish question (looking at the reasons for conflict in Ireland with Sinn Fein etc), A local Historical project, Medicine through time (very interesting - lots of blood and gore and a trip to London :D), Plains Indians (also includes cowboys, cattle ranching and more). However, speaking to people from other schools a different syllabus is taught.

It depends, my History GCSE was focused around the second world war, but others have been focused on tudors and earlier even, it just depends what the history teachers knowledge is and what resources the school has to offer.

It all depends on who sets the course, I did the AQA and I covered, Agricultural revolution, poor laws and workhouses, Women's Suffrage, Industrial revolution. Goes back to about 1760 and finishes round about 1914/1918

Depends what syllabus you do. For my history GSCE we focused on WW2 and Russion revolution from 1900s to present day. But different schools will focus on different topics so you should probably find out from your teachers.
