The Wii is already outselling the PS3. I went to several game stores during the rush and they had PS3's they couldn't sell but they could sell the Wii's like hotcakes. There was a review in EGM about it where they talked to the president and he was a complete jerk about it. Read it, he's making lies to cover-up the bad sales.
The PS3 has had some games even jump ship and head to the wii from the PS3 (look at dragon warrior and Kingdom hearts). The PS3 didn't revolutionize the gaming industry the way the Wii and 360 did. There's a lot of backwards compatibility problems, and blue-ray disc? Its a good idea to jump ahead but most people are still focusing on their DVD's.
Last time the game systems were in terms of sales
1st-PS2
2nd-Xbox
3rd-Gamecube
This (prediction)
1st-Wii
2nd-Xbox 360
3rd-PS3
The wii offers a new outlook in gaming, something we haven't seen before. Players can acutally get involved in the game while with the PS3, its updated graphics but not much else. The Xbox 360 was able to make that leap where the PS3 fell short. Plus Xbox and wii are having no trouble with compatibility with older games.
Plus the prices can be a major determining factor. The PS3 is at $600, Xbox $400 and Wii $250. For parents, the wii seems more fun to them and offers a more economically price. In the economy and when it comes to buying products, people are ruled by the almighty dollar.

Ok, the question is which system will sell more, not who has been selling more. While I personally own a Wii myself and NOT a PS3, I think the PS3 will sell more; but it's a late victory to say the least.
The others are right, PS3 doesn't have much good games out there now, but then again, other than zelda, nothing is worth it for the Wii either. Sure you got revolutionary controllers, but they are a big gimmick, used for primarily for mini games and the such. It'll be a while hopefully by the end of the year, that the Wii will have games that uses the controllers not as a gimmick, but something special. As for the PS3, well in my experience, I have bought the Ps2 and the PS1 about two years or so after they came out. That is because that's how long it took them to get good games out for them and for the developers to make use of their new chip architectures.
So I believe PS3 will outsell the Wii, but by then Nintendo will already be unveiling it's next gen system (just look at the release schedule for the GBA, then SP, and DS, and now DS lite.) That and the month before the Wii and PS3 came out, the best selling console was the PS2. No joke, I was surprised too, but when Sony gets the ball rolling on their product, it's almost unstoppable.
So, by this year end, Wii most-likely, by the time this gen console battle is over, PS3 most-likely, but Nintendo will be one step ahead of Sony and make the next big thing and market that like they did with the GBA, then SP and DS, and now DS lite.

Well, when I was looking for a wii (I finally have one now), I looked in EB Games and I asked the guy there and he said there were none. The EB Games guy said that whenever they get them, they sell out in minutes! He showed me he had plenty of PS3s and said they have been sitting here collecting dust. So the wii has already have the PS3 beat, at least were I live they do.

Wii has already sold an amazing amount. PS3 is too expensive and doesn't even have good games. The PS3 has basically economically failed.
