Can you tell me a little bit about Lucy's character? I'm singing a song that she sings but I want to know a little bit about her role. I read somewhere she was a prostitute. Was she a tough or soft person? What was she wearing...what did she look like... Where was the setting? Stuff like that. Oh, and if any of you know what year it's supposed to take place in the show? As much descriptive info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Jekyll and Hyde takes place in 1885.
Lucy is a disillusioned young soul who wants to make something of her life. The first time she appears in the show is right before the song "Good 'n Evil" or in some productions "Bring On The Men." After the song the club owner of the place Lucy works at hits her and Dr. Jekyll comforts her and give her his business card if ever she would need help. After Dr. Jekyll's transformation he recieves a visit from Lucy who has been badly injured by a "customer" (after all she is a prostitute). Dr. Jekyll helps her and she explaines she'll never forget his name "Hyde...Edward Hyde" Lucy kisses him out of thankfulness for helping her. then kisses him out of passion. She sings "Sympathy, Tenderness." Dr. Jekyll who is really confused leaves Lucy. Lucy then daydrams of her impossible relationship with Jekyll, and sings "Someone Like You" After the act break Emma and Lucy sing a song about the man they both love, while their the same person, they're different. "In His Eyes" Hyde seeks out Lucy, she was really hoping to see Jekyll, but she is still irresistibly attracted to Hyde "Dangerous Game" Jekyll writes a letter to Lucy begging her to leave London, and gives it to a friend to deliver to her. His friend, Utterson delivers the note and read it to Lucy (who is illiterate. Utterson begs Lucy to take the money Jekyll sent for her and start a life elsewhere. She sings "A New Life". Hyde arrives and taunts Lucy about her relationship with Jekyll. He sings to her soothingly and stabs her to death.

When I saw it, the woman who played Lucy played her with integredy. Yeah, she was a east end prostitute, but she had goals and ideals She is tough by nature, but soft underneath. The costumes she wore were of the late 1800's. She had dark brown wavy hair that was put up for some scenes and down for others. It's a really great role.
