The dimes of today have Roosevelt on them, but back before 1946 our dimes had a Winged Liberty Head on them and they are commonly called Mercury dimes. You have the normal 1942 dime with a mintage of 305,432,329. The 1942/1 dime is some what scarce and the 2 over 1 does stick out, so it is not hard to tell the two coins apart. As you can see the mintage is quite high so in low grades the coin's value is in it's silver content. Dealers pay 7-8 times face for them. In mint state it is worth from $4.50 to $15.00 depending on what mint state grade it is. The above prices are about what a coin dealer would pay.

Just take it to a local coin dealer. If you are thinking of selling it you might take it to more than one place to ensure you get the right estimate. There is also a coin book where you can look up your coin to see it's estimated worth. If it's an error coin then sometimes you need an error coin estimate book.

You never know what you will find. Some people just don't realize that dime might just be worth more than they think. Even if it is worth the $5 someone suggested (someone really needs to see it's condition, etc) that is 50 times it's face value!

Take your coin to a local coin collector. Keep it to see if it is worth anything. Remember that the longer you keep it the more valuable it is. Often jewlers ect, can tell you what its worth. Good Luck!

well it is made of all silver, and not a silver and copper mix like todays coins, I would hang on to it,, for everything there is a buyer, check on E-Bay and see what coins like it are selling for,, I would say if its in good shape maybe $5 at the most,
