The shrimp will do just fine with the fish you have. They will eat the same things your fish eat and algae growing in your tank. Shrimp do molt, shedding their exoskeleton leaving what looks like a dead shrimp on the bottom of the tank. Just make sure they have places to hide in the tank.

Shrimp are mainly scavengers - eat virtually anything and even scrape algae off of rocks and eat it. Shrimp will eat dead fish but can't really catch the live ones.

depending on the type of shrimp they either filter the little stuff that floats around in the water or eat off the bottom whatever they can find. they are onmivores. they are generally conisdered the most thrifty of bottom feeders. i tried keeping several with my messy goldfish. they love living with goldfish mess but not with the goldfish -- they all ended up goldfish dinner.
