Chinatown
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Around Leicester Square you will find London’s Chinatown, an area that is predominantly populated by a Chinese community. In the streets around the square you find Chinese shops and restaurants. The main street has pagodas at the beginning and the end of the street. A nice detail is that even the famous English phone boxes have roofs representing Chinese pagodas. All together this gives you the idea you are in a Chinese town.
The first time we visited Chinatown, we went to an ordinary restaurant. The dishes were delicious and prices were reasonable. The second time, we went to a restaurant with a, what I call, walking buffet. Here the courses are not served to you. You have to walk up to a buffet bar and help yourself. I don’t know if the quality of the food here is always as it was when we visited the restaurant, but I definitely do not recommend this restaurant. Not only were most of the courses overcooked, several of them, although on the menu, were not available.
Service in the restaurants was bad, but this probably has to do with their popularity. They are very busy and therefore the waiters are probably to busy serving all the customers. However, this is acceptable because the dishes they serve are pukka (this is slang for very good or excellent) :+). If you love Chinese meals, I recommend that you go to Chinatown and try any of the restaurants here.
