I've been on the pill since I was 16, (I'm 31), everything normal, no bad reactions or side effects, currently Yasmin. My boyfriend and I would like to start a family maybe in 8 months to a year. We talked about me getting off it and both agreed that I should get off the pill this month, I'm afraid that if I dont get off it soon, I will do something irreversable to my body because I have been on it for so long. What are the chances of anything happening within the next few months, though? My boyfriend is in Iraq now, will be home for 2 months, then back over again for 4 months and I will obviously not be in any danger of getting pregant then, but I do not want to get pregnant in the next few months. After such long usage, how long will it take for my body to get back to "normal" because it's so used to and accustomed to the pill? I am just getting very nervous about staying on it for a 15th year. I feel if I stay on it any longer ill go barren or something. How long 2 get back 2normal?

I would recommend you use condoms when he is home till you are ready to get pregnant.

There is no way to know how your body will react. Each woman is different. There has been studies about long term reactions to the pill. but there are so many different birth control pill levels and so on to tell you personally you would have to see your doctor.

Congrat on your new life adventure. And tell your boyfriend thank you for keeping us all safe!!!!!

It take ten months for a baby to be born, and it takes only one month ot get preggers. How wonderful would it be to have your boyfriend come back and tell him he's already two months along? The pill will not harm you in any way, and only tells your body that it is not pregnant. My body is lower than normal in horomon levels, and it takes about three days to five days to get back to normal. If you take the sugar pills the fourth week then it should not take long to get back to normal. It will not harm you, but I took three years to become pregnant with out the pill. It may take awhile.

everybody's body is different. Some could take get pregnant right away, some may take up to a year for their body to adjust. I was on birth control for six years, got off it and concieved the first time my husband and i tried. Get off the birth control now, but use some sort of back up until you are actually ready to start. The best time to try to concieve (or prevent) is two weeks after your period.

no your body is so used to the birth control that it will take it a while to get back in the swing of things, i could be as little as 3 months or as much as a year and a half for you to become pregnant again.

my friend was on it for 5 years and has been trying to have a baby over a year. I was on it for 1 month and it made me wait 4 months before I could.

You can potentially become pregnant immediately, but most doctors recommend waiting a couple of months so that your ovulatory cycles can return to their normal state. This is important so that the due date can be accurately determined when you do become pregnant.

Good luck!
