Not only was it unnecessary, but it was poorly executed at that.
We should have gone into Afghanistan, gotten Osama, rebuilt the country (as we promised), and all would have been right with the world and the Universe would hum on.
Instead we went into a sovereign country that had nothing to do with 9/11, was contained militarily, and then screwed it up at that. It's been a major mess since the beginning, and it's not getting any better.

I am sitting on the fence with this issue. I see it as both a bad thing and a good thing. With half of my friends serving overseas and half here back at home(having served already or haven't but have opinions on it), it's hard. I think it's good that we went, but after being there for so long, I think it's time to back out just a little. I'm also frustrated that the news cannot report what's going on over there in the right way. Too many of my soldier friends send me emails saying they are becoming increasingly agitated that all the newstations only report the bad. It makes others only think nothing could will ever come out of their situation. But there are so many good reasons why they're overseas doing the job that they do. I could go on for days...

i think the reduction of deaths is a good thing
i also feel we are still selective
iraq seems to be trying ,but must know they need to be seen to be fair ,and balanced ,it is nice to not hear of some bombv in a markett ,if its really true thats great if its being suppressed thats not
not sure it is a war we went in and declared it won ?
we arnt fighting terror or are we fighting iraqies if its iraqies when we decl;are war on them?
time will reveal if govt represents all iraqies or only some ,one gooid day does not reveal the action is over
forces could just be recouping energy ,
i hear media bans can make it look like peace just as that columbian pres and his definition of what is a kidnapping has made it look like he has done that he promised yet it is but by lie

I want to say that I think going in there was a bad idea. But, not that we are there we need to stick it out. We are not just working on making that place safe, we are rebuilding a country! There are so many different facets to rebuilding a country that we need to stay and help work on. If we pull out now and they collapse then it will be our fault and this will come back to get up bad in the future. We need the men and women over there to stay until the job is finished and we also need more people to go over there. I'm not talking about troops, but contractors to help rebuild.

when is America going to wake up and learn we can't fight this war against the terrorist like a conventional war? u think we would have learned our lesson from Vietnam and the mob in NY. they brought them down by infiltrating them we need to people on the inside and turn them inside out.

It's been a great moneymaker, thank you. A few CEOs will be going home with bonuses bigger than the GNP of most countries in Africa.

It's a complete travesty, and a shambles.
Now they want to invade Iran because they have 'evidence'!
They said that about Weapons Of Mass Destruction.
How stupid do they think people are.

We should not have gone; we should get our people out before more of them die.
