In fact when I left Graceland I had the most horrible feeling of depression ever. I felt as if Elvis's house has some strange evil presence there that I cannot describe. I was very excited to go and visit it but when I left I was speechless. I think the only peaceful area of the house id where Elvis's grave is. It is a very somber area, but the house is aweful. There is something horrible there that I cannot describe and it stayed with me for almost two days. Even the staff are very cold and rude! I think a minister needs to go there and do some kind of heavy blessing over the house because there is just an aweful precense there?
Has anyone had this type of expirience going to Graceland? Can anyone relate?

I have been twice and would go again and again.
I never once got that feeling of morbidity or eeriness that you experienced.
I'm sorry (and frankly, surprised) that's how you felt about Gracelands.
Maybe you are very sensitive to lingering presences, Elvis was a deeply religious man. There is still a real feel of him in the house (especially that outside office)

We don't recall the staff being rude or cold, the mini-bus driver and the house tour-guide both seemed perfectly okay.

I did find it very sad though, since the last thing you see on the
tour is the grave-sites of Elvis and family.
I thought the whole thing was exceedingly tasteful actually (not the decor of many of the rooms - but you must remember the era that he lived in).
There was every chance it could have been poorly conceived and just a money-grubbing exercise. But I didn't find that at all.

We stayed in the RV park right behind the Lisa Marie and took our time at all the exhibits, leaving the house tour for last.
Personally, I think it is one of the best-thought-out and presented attractions in the state.

Maybe if your in town again you should give it another look.

EDIT: Aunty Em, it is really not like that at all.
They opened the house so Elvis's fans could come and pay their respects and get a small glimpse into his personal life (something they couldn't do during his lifetime).
I don't think they had a lot of choice either, people would come and stand at the gates, day and night for months!!
His Birthday and the anniversary of his death are still big crowd-drawers.

There is a huge staff to care for the house, grounds and tourists.
Money HAS to come into play.
Besides which Lisa Marie is quite the philanthropist to charities.

My experience of Graceland was awesome! A mixture of lots of feelings and a feeling of being in a 'time warp'. I found it very interesting, lots.....oh such a lot.......to see and take in!
The house is just packed full of memories of Elvis, his early years, his Army life and his 'rock star life'. One huge package!

The garden is amazing, and I did cry, even though I did not want to. The aeroplanes were amazing as was the car museum.
Definately a visit worth taking!

ALTHOUGH I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO GRACELAND , I CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN. THE HOUSE HAS BEEN TAINTED WITH THE GREED OF MAN,TO MAKE MONEY FROM THIS LOVELY MAN AFTER HE HAS DEPARTED, IT IS NO LONGER ELVIS'S HOME BUT JUST A TOURIST ATTRACTION.
