Government is by nature greedy, arrogant, and power-hungry. It's composed mostly of wealthy lawyers, so how could it be otherwise? Sure, some of them feel guilty about being rich when so many citizens are poor, and feel compelled to do something about it, but arrogance (they know better than we) and ignorance makes them pass idiotic, counter-productive legislation.
They make things worse because the area they are most ignorant of is economics -- they feel like they can overrule the laws of supply and demand. And this results in higher prices and increased unemployment.
And in order to implement their grand schemes, they have to raise taxes, which results in even higher prices and unemployment. This prices our workers out of the market, and our jobs go overseas.
But anarchy is a pipe dream -- a group will always fill a power vacuum. What we need to do is focus on ********* government of power they don't need so that they cannot interfere with the free marketplace, which in spite of all its warts, serves us very well.

The US government provides protection to its citizens from foreign armies and invasions, and to protect its citizens from being exploited by outside entitys. The very presence of a well-organized, efficient government also helps prevent future problems like these from occurring in the first place. Thus, the benefits may only be seen if you consider how your life would be without the government.

Government is providing infrastructure, basic education, social welfare and protection to its people. Nevertheless, there are many projects not implemented to the fullest because the funds are falling into the pockets of corrupt officials.

You are alive, you still have the freedom to misspell words, freedom of speech, free to protect yourself. I think I am not at all mad at the government right now, could get mad about January of 2009. Who knows, may not. This is what I really think.

of course there are some good things done by government, but there are far more damages done...with good intentions. anytime people let other people have too much power, it will be abused. people should learn self discipline and govern themselves, and vote against more regulation and government.
