The chain is:
Bytes, Kilobytes, Megabytes, and Gigabytes. there are more but for your help it's that.
there are 1,024 Bytes or (B) in a Kilobyte or (KB)
there are 1,024 Kilobytes or (KB) in a Megabyte or (MB)
there are 1,024 Megabytes or (MB) in a Gigabyte or (GB)
so if you do the calculations:
4,500,000,000 bytes = 4,394,531.25 kilobytes
4,394,531.25 kilobytes = 4,291.53442 megabytes
4,291.53442 megabytes = 4.19095158 gigabytes
Your basic answer is there are 4.19095158 gigabytes in 4,500,000,000 bytes

That depends if your talking computer memory or hard drives.
Hard drives were counted for sales reasons as 1 byte = 1 byte, 1024 bytes = 1 MB, then someone reasoned 1 MegaByte should be 1000 bytes not 1024. Thats generic desktop office computing IDE hard drives even SCSI, not MFM or RLL.
Another reasoned that a 20" CRT tube monitor can only have 17" viewing area instead of 20" viewing area with a 22" tube.
- If you got your BS in computers back in 1990 probably obsolete even if your at a really high tech company.

Every step up is 1024. So 1 kilobyte is 1024 bytes. 1 megabyte is 1024 kilobytes, etc. This means that 1 gigabye is 1024*1024*1024 bytes = 1073741824 bytes.
It has to do with the computer idea of a "word". Go google that (or wikipedia it).

1 gigabyte= 1024 megabytes
1megabyte=1024 Kilobytes
1 Kilobyte= 1024 bytes
1 gigabyte= 1073741824 bytes
4500000000 bytes is approximately equal to 0.42 gigabytes

Hi!
It depends on what you are talking about! :)
There are two very different conversions:
Hard Drive Storage=4500 000 000= 4.5GB
Computer memory is different..
Computer memory=4500 000 000= 4.291.5344238 GB
This is because you must divide by 1024 instead of 1000.
1GB storage is simply 1000 x 1000 x 1000 = 1000000000 bytes
With memory:
1GB is 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 1073741824 bytes

ok based on 1024 bytes=1KB and 1024KB=1MB 1024MB=1 GB and so on 4.5 billion bytes is roughly 4.25-4.5 GB depending on your file system. Fat32 and NTFS both store information in different styles. NTFS is the File System that Windows XP uses and stores information more efficently than the Fat32 system. Fat32 is used by windows 98 and 95. I believe WinNT uses NTFS since windows xp was built using WinNT platform. May have been a lil more than you needed but it explains why there is a difference on some harddrives :D
Hope this helps,
JB

1 Byte = 8 bits (binary digits)
1KB = 2^10 or 1,024 bytes.
1MB = 2^10 KB = 2^20 bytes = 1,048,576 bytes.
1GB (Gygabyte) = 2^10 MB = 2^30 bytes = 1,073,741,824 bytes.

that's approximately 4500 gigabytes. 1mb = 1,000 bytes and 1gig = 1,000mb so all you need to do is divide it by 1,000 bytes that would give you per megabytes and divide it by 1,000 mb that would give you per gigabyte.
