i want to become a running back or a line backer. i can run the 40 yard dash in around 4.4 seconds or something like that. i had around 16 TDs and 2-3 sacks a game during 8th grade, what do you think i can do to help transition into high school football? espically going from flag to tackle?

Definately start working the weights, but DO NOT forget to work your legs. So many guys seem to work upper body and forget that they need a good base. I would suggest you to explosive leg presses and calf raises as well as the usual squat and dead lift.
Also, make sure you are running long distance to get your lungs working. Football is a 4 quarter game, make sure you can keep the juice going throughout.
Toughness is also something you need to keep in mind. Remember that the guys blocking you will actually be trying to bury you in the turf. AND, the guys trying to stop you will get an amazing giggle at your expense if they plant you similarly.

Other than that, have fun.

apparently you guys aren't too good at football, the good news is that leaves plenty of time for you to turn your spelling/grammar around and get an education to fall back on. Seriously I wouldn't have thought a Jr. High student, let alone a Sr. High Student wrote this question. What has happened to the education system? To win a football game you have to find players that work well in your coach's system, or develop current players into the kind of players that can handle the roles your coaches need. If your defense coordinator has a 3-4 scheme you need a DT that can handle the extra workload. If your offensive coordinator likes vertical passing over west coast offense type passing, you need a QB that can accurately throw for 40+ yards or if he likes a running game you need an O-line that can handle the Defensive Linemen and push them around.. there are many things that go into a successful football team, learning the coach's style and practicing are a couple of the main ingredients to turn your team around. If you guys cannot learn the coach's scheme/style then the coach needs to adapt his game-plan to the players skills he has. on the High School level this is usually the route they take, on the Pro level they find guys who they think will fit the coach's scheme.

That is a really good 40 time for a guy your age, if you are telling the truth. Make sure you have good size and stength for linebacker or hb. Oh you played flag. You will have to get alot stronger. Start weight lifting. You will need a strong upperbody for linebacker to bring down players and strong lowerbody for running back to break through the line and drive through tackles.
