Do you mean BIOS ?

I thought XP got rid of DOS ?

To access BIOS... i think your restart your pc.. and as it begins loading up again... tap either F12 repeatedly or DELETE repeatedly.

I think its one of those two. Good luck.

(Also be careful with what you alter in BIOS. Some of the settings in there can be important to keeping your pc running smooth.)

The kind of Console Mode you are asking to get involves setup disc, done it years ago with NT and again with 2000 but I forgot how to trigger it.

FYI: Windows XP is the first time a consumer version of Windows based on Windows NT, it has no DOS.

1) Restart your system
2) As soon as system restarts start pressing F8 or Ctrl or Delete(depending on the motherboard either of them will work).
3) You'll get a list of options
4) Select start windows in safe mode.
5) DONE

Don;t choose safe mode

Choose safe mode with command prompt. Although it sounds like regular safe mode with option of DOS, it actually means it's strictly DOS mode.

Use a Win98 floppy bootdisk to load DOS.

I don't know how you can change/delete the password in DOS, though.

Why install it in dos mode when there is some decent GUI installer?
