When I was raped I had a pregnancy scare, and was faced with the decision as to wether or not abortion was an option. i was curious as to where everyone here stands on it, and wether anti abortion supporters make an exception for it.

my personal stance ended up being that i wasnt against girls that abort because of rape (im usually anti-abortion) but that i personally couldnt abort if i was pregnant

I am not pro-life or pro-abortion...I believe that if a woman is raped...that she should have the option of aborting...Why should she pay twice...by being raped and then carrying the child of that rapist...

another scenario is...what if this person has no health insurance, is money strapped and has to work just to get by...should she be paying again...

I am all for abortion as a result of rape, and I know that many men whom are pro-life could not understand this, however, being violated in such a manner is a horrendous thing, and to be reminded of that experience just makes it that more unbearable...so before you go passing judgment on a woman who has been through that...just ask yourself (what would I do if it were my sister, mother, or daughter...

It's easy to through stones...it's not as easy to be on the receiving end of those stones..

Well, I just answered a similar question like this.
1) The only legal abortion should be in order to save the life of the mother.
2) I'm a man so its none of my damn business what you women chose to do with your bodies.

Back to 1, I use to say that I could see it in the cases of rape or incest (rape by any name), but I've changed my view over the years for this reason. It's not the baby's fault that the mother was raped so why must it pay the ultimate price for the sins of the father. It doesn't matter how you sugar coat it, abortion is still murder. If a woman does not want the child she could give it up for adoption. Why lower herself to the level of the rapist by killing an innocent. I'm sorry but that's the way I feel, but I always give way to number two. Its not my body and if my wife or daughter was to have an abortion because of rape I would support them in every way that I could. If they were doing it as a means of birth control then I'm afraid we'd have a problem, I would anyway.

In the case of rape or incest to carry a baby would be such a hardship on the mother I feel it should be up to her what to do. I know a girl who ran away from home at 17 yrs old. The man who gave her a ride offered his home to her as a place to stay. She went home 2 weeks later and found she was pregnant. Should she have an abortion?

I am a pro-life proponent. However, there are exceptions just as in other things. I believe, for example, that the state has a right to impose capital punishment even though I would not argue that it's okay for me to kill. Where there is an overriding societal interest (such as rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother) abortion may be warranted. Even then, the pregnant woman would ultimately have to make that painful decision.

I contrast that with the woman who uses abortion as a birth control method, or because the baby would be inconvenient. Abortion in those circumstances is wrong in my opinion. A woman's right to control what happens with her body ends where another life is at stake. Think of it as my right to swing my fist ends at your nose.

First off, I am sorry to hear that happened to you. You pose a very interesting and important ethical dillema. If I were in the position I would feel its important to carry the child to birth and give it up for adoption. I am adopted and could have been aborted in a second. So I feel very strongly about adoption as the way to go. I imagine it would be hard to carry. I personally could not live with myself for killing a child but I probably couldnt raise that child either so I would go for adoption.

Even if your child is conceived through rape, it is still your child. The truth is that killing is killing, it's wrong, and two wrongs will never make a right. Nevertheless, a woman's desire to terminate a pregnancy for ANY REASON is between her and her god. God's mothers know right from wrong. It's no one else's business -- not the government's business, since a fetus is not a citizen, and it's not the business of bossy, insecure people who feel they ought to be able to dictate others' decisions about sex, contraceptives and the use thereof, or giving birth.

I feel it's a question you can only address within yourself. Other people have their opinions which we are all entitled too but at the end of the day those people dont have to go through with the action, you do. whether you be for or against, no-one has the right to tell you what to do with your life, body or mind. Would you cut off a body part to save a life ? of course you would .. a limb is a alive, it has a bllood supply, it uses oxygen and the brain and processes to ontract and extend .. life is full of decisions, you need to do what is right for you.

To me the fetus is a parasite that survives in the body of woman. I would never tell any woman that she must carry in her a parasite. To kill that parasite is murder but a murder with justification.

You should have that right to abort, after sex was forced on you.
