When I flush the toilet, the water rises but doesn't drain. I don't have a plunger or a snake and am in the process of acquiring one but there are air bubbles rise every once in a while. My in-sink-errator (sp?) is also making gurgling noises. A. What does that mean? B. How could they be related? C. I dumped some of the toilet water into the tub and it drained there. If the toilet plunging/snaking works then it was obviously clogged. If not and the sink continues, should I call maintenance? and/or tell them of both? (I don't want to get charged for a complicated service request) D. Is showering OK? I've tried googling and whatnot but I'm a novice when it coming to nonfunctional plumbing =(

The lines are all interconnected through the piping. If one is plugged it will force air out another line so, that's where the bubbles are coming from.
Plunger the toilet, it sounds like it's plugged. This should take care of it, if not, call the management for a plumber and eat the cost.

A. The sink gurgling is probably cause by the blockage in the drain line from the toilet, the line is full of water and it creates a suction on the kitchen sink drain.

B. see answer A

C. not really, if the line is plugged it's just a matter of time before they all back up with water.

Try a plunger first, unless you put a bowling ball down the toilet it should get it moving again. If it doesn't, call maintenance.

In lieu of a plunger, you might try reaching into the toilet to see if something is clogged near the top of the drain. I know, gross--put your hand/arm in a plastic bag as protection, and reach down to feel if anything's there.

I would imagine showering would be OK if your tub drained.

But definitely call maintenance. As a novice, it'd be worth the money to have it fixed right the first time.

Yeah as quickly as tragically, I flushed a washcloth simply by fact it fell in there and that i did no longer choose for to get it out and a pair of day later the rest room began gurgling and that i flushed it and gross nasty nastiness flooded the bathing room. The plumber discovered that the washcloth had blocked the pipe alongside with a large type of dental floss lol and that i had to pay to get it fastened simply by fact it replaced into my fault :(
