I drive a 1986 Chevy Blazer S10 with a 2.8 liter TBI engine. I have been experiencing mysterious changes in how much power the engine puts out, and a dead spot in the trottle just above 2000 rpm. I have had it die during standing start acceleration. I cant seem to pinpoint the problem, but it feels like it is starving for fuel. Anybody having the same problem?

Haynes Manual
What you do is get the Haynes Repair Manual for your Year and model of vehicle at Auto Zone, or another automotive repair shop. The manual will show you what and how to do the repairs.

It might be anything from clogged fuel filter to gas pump going out. But the book will go in depth with problem fixing. If your catalytic converter was getting clog up this might be a problem. But the book explains all.

I had an 83 Blazer and had the same problem. It turned out to be the distributor.

Earlier Chevy Blazers were known for their lack of power though.

Start with an ignition tune up. Plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor and clean the coil terminal if its corroded. If you didn't change the fuel filter do that also. As with any tune up, check for vacuum leaks, defective EGR valve, and the PCV valve and hoses. A clean or unrestricted air filter wouldn't hurt either. Good luck.

change the gas filter, check the air filter, run a test on the fuel pump.also it could be the cat clogging up.
