yes and no. We can store memories intoxicated but we may have a hard time recalling or finding them later. A proven study shows that if someone learns something while drunk, they remember it better if they get drunk again. It seems that we are store different parts of memories in different parts of the brain and link them togather by whats common. The hippocampus trys to keep track of what is where and how it fits togather. It is able to function more efficiently if you are in the same state as when the memory was registered. So if you were slightly drunk and sitting you will remember best slightly drunk and sitting. All the memories are still stored and kept, but your brain's memory index, the hippocampus doesn't know how to link to it.

i don't know much but i heard that black out is definately it. when u drink and black out, what it actually does is melting one of the part of the brain that is to do with memory. my high school teacher tought us when i was back in hs. More u drink, more it will be damaged and melted. she even showed us picture...like this alcoholic guy, one of the parts of the brain that manages the memory was like really~ small compared to normal. Also he had very short memory.

Yes... absolutely!!! One of my best friends used to have photographic memory up until about 2 years ago, (when he started smoking and drinking), and now... he can't remember what he had for dinner last night!!! Sad, but true!!!
What a waste!!!

Yeah smoking would drinking, it depends on the person. Me for instance, if i'm drunk i wont remember a thing, but other people remember every last detail. I've never smoked so i cant answer that from experiance.
