It does look like a laurel , which if left will get big so prune it lightly yearly. the small plant underneath looks like a" Hebe. sp. albicans" which is a small shrub which has white flowers early summer.

The small plant is definitely a "Hebe" The larger is a laurel of some kind

Hard to tell...looks like a type of nandina. If it forms dark berries in the fall, it might be.

Take a cutting to a local tree grower / nursery. (NOT Lowe's or Home Depot.)

its hard to guess from that pic -- i would go with cherry laurel -- prunus laurocerasus
