I guess your society is bigoted with lots of narrow-mindedness, shallowness, ignorance and hypocrisy. It's so obvious from what you said above that you are not allowed to have your own free opinions explains that the society you live in now is so cursory, empty-headed, farcical, featherbrained, frivolous, hollow and idle.
Of course human, every human being have the right and total freedom to express and speak their mind without having fear or anxious about it after. It's the society that creates rules and strictness of what is the perfect utopia should be. It's obviously the society's unhealthiness and social disease that makes you feel that way.

I guess that's code for gay people? It's ok to have an opinion. You can voice it in an intelligent manner if you feel like it. Trouble is, most people who hate others that are different from them don't voice anything in a calm, intelligent manner. They use slurs and rant endlessly about things that really don't affect them. The only dictatorship is the one in your head. Say whatever you want. Feel whatever you want, just learn to use words correctly to get your point across. There's no need to go out of your way to offend others just because you don't happen to agree with their lifestyle. That's called being a mature adult. Scary concept, I know.

It's not just San Francisco people, the whole world is that way. If you want to get to the bottom of it you never will. As long as someone has something to gripe about someone else will always be told they are wrong. It's human nature, I'm not saying it's right just saying that is how it is.

There are opinions and then there is hate. Opinions are fine - but hate is just wrong. And if you have a hateful opinion - well you have the right to that - but what is the point in sharing it - when you know it is hateful - if not just to spread said hate? So really you don't care about the opinions - just that you want to be able to spew hate and be able to say oh it's just my opinion and then it should be ok?
So if someone were to call one of your loved ones dirty filthy hateful names (ones that can't be used on Yahoo Answers) then with your way of thinking they should be able to as long as they say - it's just my opinion and therefore you couldn't get mad at them for calling your gf or daughter a disgusting name? Cause after all it is just an opinion .... right?

My own opinion is that you might want to take a bit of time and look at the difference between "are" and "our."
Everyone has a right to an opinion. Along with that right comes the responsibility to reach that opinion by a process of thinking.
