I think homosexuality is biological defect, however, i mean this in a comepletely positive way, without being anti-semetic in any way shape or form. I think man and woman were meant to have sex with one another, for obvious reasons. I do think it is a good thing that this biological defect is something good, as opposed to something bad, and that it gives society a chance to broaden their minds and accept different types of people. It is a recipe for a more interesting and diverse world, and should not be suppressed. Some people like to say 'biological defect' in a bad way, that it is a negative aspect of a persons life, that they should become straight. I beg to differ, and turn this term around. Do you think homosexuality is a biological defect? If no, why?

I understand what you are saying, but you run the risk of offending people if you bluntly call it a "defect". Even so honesty is always refreshing.

Whether homosexuality is indeed a biological defect is not yet decided, since evolutionarily there are actually good reasons for homosexuality to exist in a primate group. Also, if we take the view that evolution is truly spontaneous, then there are no such things as defects, only creatures that survive and creatures that don't. The first land-walking fish might have been seen as "defective" compared to their ancestors. In the modern world of advanced science, being homosexual is not necessarily a barrier to creating progeny, and thus not an evolutionary disadvantage.

It's not a defect if it consistently appears in the same percentage of the population for generations. On the other hand, so does relative ugliness. So subjectively, it may be seen as a defect, but objectively it is just seen as unfortunate.

I note someone else here said:
"I think that this large spectrum of our sexual nature has been deliberately singled out to exist, by nature. Nature doesn't allow mistakes to keep going for very long. Mankind has always had homosexuality."
Now this person has gone too far in arguing that it's not a defect because it's not a mistake, as nature doesn't consistently allow mistakes to keep going, etc. But nature DOES allow "mistakes" to continue, such as sickle cell anemia, autism,
diabetes, schizophrenia, congenital deafness, blindness, and on and on.
And nature doesn't PLAN or single out anything. Unless the propensity for specious analysis can be seen as part of the grand plan for an intelligent universe - ??

Wouldn't the parents be biologically defective than too? Since there the ones having the kids themselves right?

I don't like thinking of myself as defective thank you very much. So no.

Homosexuality is as defective as the appendix. It exists. It may not have a purpose in the grand scheme of humanity, but neither do many things.

Defect isn't a term I would use. It has negative connotations for one.
But I don't view homosexuality as anything other that part of the normal/natural range of sexuality in humans. I think that a good part of our evolutionary success has been our adaptability..and it if this 'overflows' into our sexual lives, so what? I think that this large spectrum of our sexual nature has been deliberately singled out to exist, by nature. Nature doesn't allow mistakes to keep going for very long. Mankind has always had homosexuality.

It is according to some of the latest research... However the Deaf and the Gay community have made a rich Community out of their "defect".

i agree with above, why would you try to turn the phrase biological "defect" into a postive thing? if something is defective, it's wrong in some way. just call it a random (and harmless)genetic or biological quirk like it is. and then exactly what you said, it gives people a chance to broaden their minds and be more diverse.

Joseph C, you need a hobby.
21% of lesbians die of murder, suicide or traffic accident, which is at a rate of 534 times higher than the number of white heterosexual females aged 25-44 who die of these things(8).
This is just hilarious!!! What? I'm supposed to stop driving? If I start riding a bicycle somebody will come out with a study that shows more lesbians die of bicycle accidents. If I start taking the bus, a study will come out showing more lesbians die in bus accidents. I cant win for losing!!!! LOL

and of course it's not a biological defect, it's just more rare.
trust me, everything you see in nature is usually there because it's meant to be there. there are no "defects" made by mother nature.

I think no matter what it is, God didn't feel we needed to broaden our minds regarding it as He abhors the act of homosexuality as stated in Romans. There's always a way out of any wrong choices thru God in the asking. If a person feels the desire to act against God's design for us, that person needs to take it to the Lord for strength and guidance. Anything can be justified thru man's answers, so be careful to listen to the Master and Maker of your life if you want assurance and peace with the answer. Remember some recipes may taste good, but contain poisonous ingredients that could end up killing you!!.
