It is not all that common, but normal. Some years ago, I had a blue-eyed friend whose eyes would go violet when she was angry. I also know someone whose eyes become an indescribable golden when she needs to take it easy and rehydrate.

Each of my father's drivers' licenses listed a different eye color (blue, green, hazel) because his color was never constant.

Eye color changes can be affected not only by mood , but also by something as simple as the color of clothing one is wearing. I have only heard of or seen this sort of color variance in people with blue/green/hazel eyes- never heard about brown eyed people with color variations.

Rare, but normal.

My brother and my father's eyes change colors too. It has to do with the relfection of the surrouding colors. For example, If my brother wears a red shirt, his eyes appear green. If he wears blue or black, his eyes are baby blue.

It's a great thing, I am slightly jealous of them because I got the genes for plain dark brown eyes.

Mine used to appear different colors at different times. Depended on the colors I was wearing and the light available at the time.

They also used to become really deep blue if I was drinking alcohol or smoking illegal stuff.

By the time I was 25 they changed and stay changed to a "hazel" which for me is greenish brown with gold flecks.

Very normal. My eyes do the same thing. The color of them changes depending on my mood.

Having eyes that change color is unusual, but it isn't abnormal. Mine do it, too. It can really shock people when I turn my head from one side to the other and my eyes go through their full range of colors.
