well i would try the admin account ..reboot and start up safe mode and see if the admin account has a passowrd...instructions below.....if that does no work try the 2nd option below...but you will have to be able to burn a cd...
option 1
If Windows XP is the only operating system installed on your computer, booting into Safe Mode with these instructions.
If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
When you are finished with all troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would.
To use the System Configuration Utility method
Close all open programs.
Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK
The System Configuration Utility appears, On the BOOT.INI tab, Check the "/SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK and Restart your computer when prompted.
The computer restarts in Safe mode.
Perform the troubleshooting steps for which you are using Safe Mode.
When you are finished with troubleshooting in Safe mode, open MSCONFIG again, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck "/SAFEBOOT" and click OK to restart your computer
option 2

Removing the Cmos battery doesn't have any effect on windows password so don't do that. When it boots up try pressing Ctrl-alt-delete all at once 2 times a different logon screen should appear, then type administrator for the user with no password, depending on how this OS was installed this may work, if it doesn't work then choose one of these:

Try the account "Administrator". Most people don't have a password assigned to it. After you get on, you can download a password cracker program. You would probably need to be an administrator to run the program, anyway.

If you did not write down your password, you can't recover it. You will have to sign on as the administrator. As long as you did not password protect the administrator account, you can extract the files from your old account, delete it and recreate it in a few short steps.

Password in where? When you are booting (BIOS)? or Windows? If you really don't have a clue in regard of the password (means no other way to try the password).
If it is on the booting process, try to reset the BIOS.
If it is on windows, more likely you need to reinstall the windows... sorry... Hope it will help.

One method is to remove the CMOS battery, wait about 30 seconds, then replace it, it will then drop back to the BIOS default, which usually has no password set up.

if the check engine light came on because of bad spark plugs then it may or may not go off after a bunch of run cycles.. I would have it cleared with a scanner and then see if the problem returns...
