the ring belongs to whoever bought it. An engagement ring isn't precisely a latest, it relatively is an emblem of a marriage which will ensue sooner or later. If a marriage would not ensue sooner or later, the ring is technically the valuables of the guy who bought it. except the ring replaced into wrapped up in a latest or you have been asked to %. it out or it replaced into incredibly a latest given to you with witnesses depending on, i might evaluate the engagement ring a latest; in any different case, the engagement ring shouldn't possibly be seen as all people's components, however the valuables of the guy who bought it. approximately looking after his abode and his little ones, i will see the type you had made this your pastime, considering which you had imagined which you have been going to be his new spouse and a sparkling caretaker to his little ones way in the previous you 2 have been meant to bypass via with the marriage. So, what i might do, simply by fact the marriage has been stated as off thoroughly is calculate how lots it would've fee for him to hire an entire-time caretaker to guard 1 youngster and calculate it via the form of toddlers he has. Then, calculate how lots it would've fee for a stay-in maid to guard his residing area and calculate that fee via besides the undeniable fact that many little ones he has, and then, upload the fees jointly. If the fees upload as much as the fee of the ring, the ring is yours. If the fees upload as much as extra beneficial than the ring, say it is going in direction of the lease that he had by no potential informed you had to pay. i think of it relatively is the main suitable answer.

Traditionally, if the man breaks off the engagement for any reason other than cheating, the woman keeps the ring.
Conversely, if the women breaks off the engagement, she returns it.
HOWEVER, that is only historic tradition, not necessarily case law. Each state may have a different interpretation. Is it considered a gift freely given, meaning she keeps it no matter what? Is it a conditional give, meaning it's always returned if the wedding never transpired.
If you're that concerned about it, talk to an attorney.

An engagement ring is a gift made in contemplation of marriage. That is, the gift is conditioned upon the marriage actually taking place. If the marriage takes place, the condition is satisfied, and the woman is permitted to keep the ring. Conversely, if the marriage does not occur, the would-be-bride must return the ring. Sorry ma'm but you may need to give it back.

Its yours by default, but it won't be worth $30k if you try to sell it. Try to get your ex-fiance to give you $15k for it saying it will be cheaper than going to court. Compromises are always the better deal.

what does he think?!? does he seriously think you could start fresh with that small amount!!??!! yeah right! maybe if you had a steady job (since you were busy being mommy to his kids you couldn't) , a car (i hope you have one) , and somewhere to stay. and even if you have all that 6000 still doesn't pay all bills. i hope you guys settle it well!! maybe the judge will split the value of the ring... but i would hope that you would get it, he did GIVE it to YOU. and btw- he worked you for it- you deserve it!
