Do a manhood ritual. Like go to Vegas together, have him teach you the rules of manhood, and how to drink and whore. If that isn't your bag, try a ceremonial hunt and go kill something together. Clean, skin, and make chili with the fruits of your labor. Again, if that's too much, go to a behavioral psychologist, be analyzed to the nth, and see which one of you is psycho. You could take the cheaper option, talk to the parents of one of your friends, and let them listen to your "mature" self and see if they have any pointers so you don't embarrass your old man when you try to talk to him. Have a beer with dad. Gads.

First of all; you are not alone in this dilema. Read some books on sibling rivalry, order of birth; maybe he is not himself due to bills, stress, relationship problems, substance abuse; one thing certain....he is the parent. That does not mean that he knows how to parent. Teens by nature are geared to absorb information and learn; he is past that and because of the above may not understand or know how to deal with the enthusiasm of youth. You will feel differently soon; odds are it is not you at the root of any problem between you. Parenting is more than a word or having kids; it is a state of mind. He might not be there.

This is more normal than you think. You are still your daddy's child. You are moving into a scary transition, the transition to adulthood. It is time for you to see yourself and your father as moving from a parenthood relationship to a friendship. This will change on its own eventually but you can speed up the process by writing little speeches about politics and stuff. Just kinda plan something to say so you don't resort to sounding so young.

Think of your dad differently. He was in your place when he was young. You are no different from him. I am sure he did all of the stupid **** you did now, when he was younger. Just talk to him. Think of yourself as a parent in the future when you have kids of your own. How would you want your children to act around you? This is how you should act now. My advice is to tell him you love him now, because he won't be around forever. Trust me. Hope that helps.

Just pit up with it. No matter your age you will always be Daddy's little girl.
