Freemasonry is an oath bound fraternal order of men which derives from the medieval fraternity of Freemasonry. We adhere to many of the Ancient Charges, law, customs and legends of operative Freemasonry. We are loyal to the civilian government under which we exist. We inculcate moral and social virtues by symbolic application of the operative Stonemasons' working tools and by allegories, lectures and charges. Freemasonry obligates its members to obey the principles of brotherly love, equality, mutual aid, secrecy and confidence. We have secret modes of recognition that permit members to recognize each other as brothers. We require a through examination into the mental, moral and physical qualifications of a petitioner and we admit men into the fraternity by secret ceremonies based in part on legends of the Craft.

Once a person has decided to apply for membership he fills out a petition signed by 2 members of the Lodge he desires to join. He gives the petition to one of the men along with the required initiation fee. The petition is read at the Lodges next stated meeting when the Worshipful Master will appoint an investigating committee to interview the petitioner in person and these men will report back to the Lodge at the following stated meeting where the members present will vote on the petitioner. Once the petitioner is accepted he is given the three Degrees of Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft and the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason. There are certain requirements which a candidate must meet before proceeding from one degree to the next.

One must obtain the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason before he is allowed to wear any Masonic jewelry. One must have a Belief in a Supreme Being and HOLY BOOKS play a very important part in Masonic Ritual. The tenets of the Masonic Fraternity are " Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. " The Masonic Fraternity is NOT a Secret Society but rather a Society With Secrets. there are many Societies With Secrets besides the Masonic Fraternity such as the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Eagles, Elks, Moose, Knights of Columbus, Knights of St. John, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Lions, etc. etc.
There are many people who claim to know all about these Societies With Secrets but be aware that unless one is a member there is so much erroneous information being given many do NOT really have the knowledge to speak with authority. Respectfully suggest you inquire directly to one whom you know is a member to answer your questions and concerns.
No matter what you may hear the Masonic Fraternity is NOT Satanic in nature.

Suggest if you are interested in pursuing interest in the Masonic Fraternity if over the age of 18 you contact a man whom you know to be a Mason for further information and an application. If you are under 18 suggest you inquire about the DeMolay Organization.

If you are interested in obtaining information about the Ladies Organization the Masonic Fraternity offers the Order of Eastern Star if over 18 or the Order of Rainbow Girls or Jobs Daughters for those under 18. Requirements for joining these Ladies Organizations should be received from a local Masonic Lodge because requirements MAY vary from State to State.

If no local Masonic Lodge is available then suggest contacting the Grand Lodge of Masons for the State in which you reside.

Freemasonry is a fraternal organization whose membership is held together by shared moral and metaphysical ideals and—in most of its branches—by a constitutional declaration of belief in a Supreme Being.[1]

The fraternity uses the metaphor of operative stonemasons' tools and implements, against the allegorical backdrop of the building of the Temple of King Solomon, to convey what is most generally defined as "a system of morality veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols."[2]

While it has often been called a "Secret Society", it is more correct to say that it is an esoteric society, in that certain aspects are private.[3] From many quarters, Freemasons have stated that Freemasonry has, in the 21st century, become less a secret society and more of a "society with secrets."[4][5][6] Most modern Freemasons regard the traditional concern over secrecy as a demonstration of their ability to keep a promise[7] and a concern over the privacy of their own affairs.[8] "Lodge meetings, like meetings of many other social and professional associations, are private occasions open only to members."[9][10] The private aspects of modern Freemasonry deal with the modes of recognition amongst members and elements within the ritual.[11][6]

While there have been many disclosures and exposés dating as far back as the eighteenth century, Freemasons caution that these often lack the proper context for true understanding, may be outdated for various reasons,[12] or could be outright hoaxes on the part of the author.[9] Freemasons are proud of their heritage and are happy to share it, offering spokesmen, briefings for the media, and providing talks to interested groups upon request.[9]

National Treasure is a rather entrancing work of FICTION. The Masonic Order, at its roots, basically nothing more than a Christian service organization. I belong to the sister organization, the Order of the Eastern Star, and we hold picnics, go on trips, and do community service, and that's about it.

look through my posts - and check into 'em yourself.
dont be afraid to talk to masons themselves - lower guys usually dont know, and the older are more leery of talkn.
9th degree take the vow of revenge - some people are afraid of it.. some aren't.
*OES is alot closer a satanist organization than a christian one*
DEFINITELY look into things yourself - and i highly suggest looking through my many posts (questions in partic) on the subject. a 32 degree (shriner) advocated reading 'Pawns in the Game' - which is definitely a worthy read... also.. i'd checkout

and http://www.hopenumbersix.net/mp3/16/spying_and_intelligence_part_2.mp3 (all you never ever wanted to know about spying and intelligence) from the 2006 HOPE hacker convention.. very.. interesting ;)
i've got all kinda info on things - 1995 inwo ccg is very cool for directions of research http://fotki.com/honorablepassion
CHECK MY POSTS!!! (scary how many ppl dont know that masonry has created the mormons, jehovas witnesses, christian science, theosophy, scientology, wicca (gardener from crowley's notes/oto).. and i've got a list of about 300 masonic pastors/priests/ministers in 'normal' churches - which is interesting since a Christian, by scripture, cannot JOIN masonry.
also.. they created the KKK (i dont debate whether albert pike started it; that's a nonissue - he's only 1 man ) - and many blacks ARE in it nowdays - the Prince Henry Hall (which.. never ceases to amaze me; there was actually a southpark episode about it (the one with the black guy hung, with all the white people around... they fixed the problem by having the black guy hung, and having all white people and a black guy around)
