I used to love dancing. I remember that I would skip classes in school just to practice dancing. I sneaked out in the evening to go and dance with my friends at a nearby disco. I went to a dance school and became a professional dancer. I joined competitions and won. But why is it that I am no longer enjoying the dance as I used to?

It happens to me too! Blame it to adrenaline! Whenever we compete, adrenaline surges! It increases our blood pressure and produces more stress! This is the reason why you do not enjoy dancing anymore.

Some people enjoys competing. The rush of adrenalines in their bloodstream makes them happy. But many of us may not be enjoying this.

However, do not be sad. Try to relax and enjoy it. Try to dance without thinking that you are competing. Try doing this:

1. Try to find a dance group where you can be yourself without having to compete or outdo each other;
2. Try to say to yourself that you are not dancing to compete. You are dancing to express yourself and enjoy your dance;
3. After competition, whatever the outcome, celebrate! Getting through with it is a milestone. Winning is another!

Remember too that endorphins are released when you engage in a prolonged dancing. If you are not in a competition, do not abuse your dance by trying to release too much adrenaline by showing off. Showing off will only add stress to you. Relax and make your dance your own self expression.

Maybe you are seeing dancing as work rather than fun. Perhaps as a professional you are only looking at the technical or concentrating on winning rather than the dancing.

When I had to switch dance teachers because mine moved away, I stopped enjoying dancing. I still wanted to dance, but it just lost it's joy for me.

Almost a year ago, I switched studios and teachers. Now I love it again. My teacher is great and really makes lessons fun as well as informative.

Look at whether it is the dancing you are no longer enjoying or the environment where you are doing your dancing.

You've just mellowed out. I NEVER liked dancing; I even avoided my proms in hs because I thought it was boring. My wedding didn't have any dancing. But as I've gotten older, I have actually started to indulge myself in a little "living room partying"-- I put on some good punk music and just thrash like a 16-yr-old on Ecstacy. My 2-yr old loves it -he LOVES the Ramones! I guess it comes down to getting more comfortable in your own skin, and not needing such a violent means of expending adolescent frustration. For me, it's a matter of learning how to cut loose before my son learns how uptight I can be...

you just might need a break from it for awhile. sometimes too much of something can turn you off from the thing you love most. take some time off from dancing, try other interests and just relax. if its truly a passion you have, you'll be yearning to get back in the studio or on the dance floor. if not, you might find something new along the way.

It used to be your recereation and it used to be completely optional. You danced when you chose to dance. If you didn't feel like dancing you didn't go, but it probably didn't even register with you.

Now that you are dancing professionally you have to dance whenever you have to dance, not whenever you choose to dance. Even if you don't feel like it. This links dancing activity to some negative experience.

If you think you should continue dancing for professional reasons, try and notice the "good" days, when you enjoy it.

may be you are getting interested into more mature things and dancing is no longer a prime interest in your life . I noticed as I get older different things catch my attention and I use to love dance as you did but now my life is filled with so many different things (career, children , goals) that I dont have time to practice and play around like i use too.
