why is the sky blue?

clear glass water a med dropper and 5ml of milk and flash light
put one drop of milk in the glass of water shine the flash light throu the glass + water on to white screen/wall. try adding more milk see the color change on the screen. record the data explain the why the sky is blue. the sky is a illusion to the eye when the sun light reflected off dust partical it shows up as blue to our eyes just like you may have seen with glass of milk. difference is sun light is composed all the colores(white color = the rainbow) thus when it hit dust particals in the air it split all the colors to creat a blueish grayish color. while the flash light is kind of yellowish. simple you might want to do little more reading on that. I did this when I was in 8th grade. wowed the students...

The failed project may still be good if he can explain why it failed, some of the best projects are the accidents and the failures because it is the process of science to fail and make discovery based on error and failure. However-there is a great website for quick projects you can look at so you can use what you may already have on hand: http://www.scienceproject.com/projects/index/primary.asp.
Good Luck!

Sorry, but it's your son who needs a science project by Tuesday, not you. This can be a great teaching moment if you choose to use it. His project didn't work out -- okay, that happens. But what he has to do is come up with an alternate. Or figure out why his project didn't work out. Having mommy do it for him doesn't teach him a darn thing.

Build a volcano out of a Mason jar and mud. Get a package of Calcium Carbide, add water and ignite the gas that is released. Instant ohhhs and ahhhhs and maybe a blue ribbon.

glue stick vs bottled

Hypothesis could be the higher the cost the more effective.

To test, you could glue the outside parts of a popsicle stick to the roof of a box, wait until it dries, then hang weights on the middle of the stick until it falls.

Make a volcano! For the volcano explosion, use vinegar and baking soda. Dye the vinegar red using food coloring to make it look like lava. That was always my favorite to do.
