This is how we took care of ours. Buy some tiki torches and put 1/2 keroosene and 1/2 reg torch oil, it isn,t dangerous because it doesn,t ignite like gas. After a month of doing this they will stay away. We still hang out in our yard with them burning and it isn,t bad and it works, GUARANTEED

Typically you would start with a bat house. Unfortunately, it can take several years for them to become inhabited. Buying/selling bats is illegal because about 1/2 of the species of bats in the US are endangered.

On the positive side, since you live in an area with a high population of mosquitoes, you may attract a colony much quicker than most. Good luck and I applaud you for your approach to control mosquitoes.

I think my yard has more mosquitos than any yard in town. I can't go out in the day time or night time without being eaten alive. I have a couple of bats living here and they scare me to death. I'm afraid me or my cat will get bitten by one of them. You never know if they have rabbies. I wouldn't suggest buying bats. Instead just buy a good yard spray. I wish my bats would go away.

not crazy know how you feel. bat houses, swallow boxes, frogs anything natural to combat mosquitos is a good thing. Just bewary of the bats, for the obvios reasons and if you have pets make sure you get them anoculated for rabbies to be on the safe side. My cat has brought me live bats before as a present. Not fun trying to rid a bat out of the house.

Buy a bee martin house. Martins are wonderful for controlling mosquitos. Hmmm wonder ifyou could bring in some mosquito hawks instead of bats?

Get rid of all the standing water as the mosquitoes are breeding in it. Then put up a Purple Martin bird house, they eat tons of mosquitoes and will move in quickly if you provide them with a house at the right height (they like it very high off the ground).

Actually, you can buy or build bat houses that you can hang from the eaves of your house. I've built several and built them with my special ed. class as a project stemming from a unit on bats. They are very easy and cheap to build and I got several different plans for them on the Internet. Put them up and bats will live in them. The more you put up, the more bats you will have. They love the bat houses and I always have several living in them all season.

Water could be attracting them, but if you are interested in bats, you could build a bat house and hang it on your house. They are relatively cheap to make and can house lots of bats. May take some time to attract the bats though.

An easier solution is to get rid of the water around your yard.
