No. Douching is not necessary and can actually cause problems by disrupting the normal flora of the body.
Be sure you are rinsing very well, that you haven't changed soaps, shampoos, detergents, toilet paper; that can cause itching and irritation. If you have some mild irritation, a little A&D ointment can help the tissue heal; you can apply it by putting a tiny bit on some toilet paper and dabbing it on the itchy area.
If you're having any unusual drainage, like thick white or foul smelling, you may have a yeast infection and need something for it. Tell your mom and see what she has to say.

I was like that too. Then after a year the itching occured less and less. Douching washes off the mucus lining that's supposed to clean you down there, and without it, it can lead to infection. You can try vagisil or other "female itch" medications. First talk with your doctor. Also you could see a gynocologist. She could probably figure out what's going on with you.

NO! Douching disrupts the natural balance. It could be a lot of things including an allergic reaction to soap, laundry detergent, etc. It might also be a yeast infection. You might try staying away from soap for a few days and run your clothes (especially panties) through the wash without any detergent or softener to see if that helps. If not, you should see the Dr. to be sure it's not something more serious.

DO NOT DOUCHE!

If you have a bacteria (which is the most common cause of vaginal itch) all douching will do is shoot the bacteria up further... that would be bad.

You should get Vagisil. If that doesn't work you need to see a doctor.

And stop calling it "it," use the correct terms. Labia, Vagina, etc. If you don't know them, learn them. :)

Good luck!
