1. Get the lantern from the man outside in front of the house,
2. and then set it to one of the d-pad directions from the " - " menu.
3. Then, approach the web and activate your lantern by pressing the set d-pad direction.
4.Press "B" to swing the lantern at the web and set it ablaze. Put your lantern away with "A"

I think you need to make sure you have lamp oil from the seller before you go into the cave, then you use the lamp to light the web on fire and destroy it.

have the lantern out and then go right next to the spider web and press 'b trigger' in front of it.

Oh you use the lantern to burn it,you take it out right infront of the web.
