I had an IUD put in Oct. of 2006 and recently have started hurting really bad. Sort of feels like premature labor pains. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? ...and if so what could be going on?

IUD's have been known to perforate uterine tissue. You would experience pain, bleeding, perhaps infection as well.... Another possibility could be that it has partially expelled.. isn't situated correctly. Sounds like it definitely needs to be checked for placement by a doc or nurse practitioner.
And yes, you can also get pregnant with an IUD in place; another reason to seek medical attention.

I had one put in years ago. While it was extremely painful being put in, it was the best decision I ever made!

I have not had any associated pain since, but I had a good friend who had one and puctured her uterus.

Have you had any sort of impact to your stomach lately? Have you done any vigorous excercise? It could be that you may have been punctured or possibly that your body is trying to expel it. I would suggest that you see your doc as soon as you can. If you have had your uterus punctured, you could be looking at developing PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) or needing some minor surgery. Don't delay it, get help. The IUD should never hurt!

I would get it checked out ASAP. I have had an IUD twice...once after my daughter was born (for 2 years), and once after my son was born (4 years). I had no pain at all once it was in (getting it put in was however, quite painful). If you are having a lot of pain, it could be indicative of something else. Get to the doc immediately and tell them your symptoms...and get that IUD taken out. Good luck.

My sis had problems with bounce forward bleeding besides the undeniable fact that this is my first determination.

Oh My God! I went through Soooo much pain and big blood clots. I thought I was gonna die! I had it taken out and I'm so glad. Why do we have to be the ones to carry the birth control burden and put OUR bodies at risk for pain and damage? Not fair! I changed to using foam and condom---then just used that device you can buy at the drug store for calculating my ovulation time and didn't have sex at that time--much easier! Good luck sweetie!
