I started my period 3 days ago. Since then I've noticed that I have become increasingly bloated. It's gotten to the point that my larger pants (1 size bigger than I normally wear!) will not button. I normally have a little bloating but nothing this severe. I'm not in any pain, and other than a little cramping now and then I have no other symptoms.
I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) so I am on YAZ birth control pills. I have been doing fine for the past 7 months on them and never really had any problems. Could they have something to do with this?
I am in between gynecologists right now, otherwise I would call their office.
Is this something I should get checked out? Is there anything I can do to stop the bloating?

It is possible that the Yaz could be doing this. I've talked to others who have said that they had issues with bloating from being on Yaz. Bloating in general is not uncommon with being on any birth control pill product. You mentioned that you are in between gyns so I would contact your primary care physician if you have one. You can also check with your pharmacist to get more info about the medication itself.

until the last 5 - 7 years I never got bloated. But then recently started getting that. I have been known to gain up 5 pounds of water. you could use pamprin or midol or something.

there is a small possibility that your constipation is due to your period, but you may look at some other issue such as, diet, stress level, do you take medication currently? are you active? these are just a few things you can look at. I have found that the following site has some really good information about this issue:

good luck to you!
