I enjoy a good movie from time to time but one thing thing that bothers me the most is too much profanity in movies. In my opnion it ruins the movie when too much is used. I have a tolerence level but when every other word is F you, F this, F that, I dont give S--T, and so fouth, it just ruins the entire film. Ther are countless number of words out there in the world that script writers could use for dialoug in a film but instead they choose to use 4 letter words more often than not and it just ruins the film. Does anyone else feel this way or what do you think on that matter?

And just to prove you dont have to lace a film with profanity in order for it to be good just look at films like the Bourn Identity & Supremacy, National Treasure, Pirates of the Carribean, The Sentinal. These films contain profanity but at least its to a minimum.

A moderate amount do not bother me but when you have pretty much every character cursing in every other sentence then it does bother me because all that is not necessary to make a movie.

I work at a cinema. Children getting into movies they shouldn't get me crazy every day. You do your best to stop them and some dumb*ss parent will sneak them in or yell at you for not believing that squeaky-voiced baby-faced can't-be-more-than-12 child that hardly even reach the counter is 18. And the groups of teens you gotta run after all through the day because they're screen hopping, buying tickets to the Chipmunks and somehow still ending up in Saw. And they all think "why does it matter?" Well because once they're gone, I spend another 30 minutes talking to other parents who think it's a disgrace these kids were allowed to watch that film and/or that they weren't behaved and they're gonna call the inspectors or whatever. So if only for the sake of the average cinema worker who frankly has it hard enough as it is, please check ratings and respect them. As for acting in those movies, I hear they do use a lot of stand-ins and edit the scenes so that the children don't actually see half as much as we would think. Profanity isn't nice, but it's not the same I think. I personally found that "Where's the rent?" video with Will Ferrel and the little girl hilarious and I heard she repeats everything but doesn't remember it long.

I agree completely. I get really tired and irritated with the vulgarity. National Treasure is a movie I can watch every time it comes on! Open Range is another that had no profanity in it and still got the point across.

Yes, it does. I think you are exactly right. Kinda makes you wonder about the writer(s), whether they are trying to impress each other while writing the movie script or if they just talk that way themselves in real life. If you have something to say, why does it have to have profanity to make it seem more important? Seems like a lack of confidence where they try too hard to fit in or be tough.

It does not bother at all, especially if it is a rated R movie. I do not by any means believe children should be exposed to it. Unfortunately, you one will ever be able to change it. So I guess that if you do not want to hear it, then do not go. The sad fact is that I can no longer walk through my mall in a very nice part of town without having to listen to little unruly children, literally kids, telling their 'friends' to f off. Personally I believe that the main focus should not be on the R movies, but on the children who can not even legally drive; because that is REALITY.

It depends on the movie, I guess. If in the movie there's a highly-troubled character, let's say a drug addict or a theft or something that just acts like that becuase that's just the character's storyline, it's OK, as long as there's different kind of personalities in the movie.

But if it's just a movie where you see "effing this" "s..t" that flying around the whole movie to the point that you don't see much of anything else, it's just dumb.

It's all about the storyline...

It only bothers me when half the spoken lines contain a profanity. But again, Scarface did and I enjoyed the movie.

It bothers me a little but what really bothers me is some of the stuff in movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning.
