My laptop battery has two specifications: 4700 mAh and 53WH. Which one do I pay attention to in order to compare how long a battery will last between charges?

usually mAh, but WH would take the battery voltage into consideration, so if you are comparing laptops with different voltage batteries then WH might be better, they should both give an indication so some degree and both to the same extent if the voltages are equal

They are equivalent. If you multiply the mAh rating by the battery voltage, you should get the Wh rating. In this case, the battery is somewhere around 12 volts.

The MaH rating is MilliAmp per Hour. This is how most batteries rate power, which also translates to longevity between charges.

mah is more accurate imo .... thats the rating of the cells themselves ...
