Okay bud,

try rolling back the driver.

Check the hardware manager>sounds> and see what it shows. Email me with the results. Also, have you tried all of the jacks on the sound card? Is your sound card seated properly? What change made this happen?

Let's try this. go to the device manager and rightclick on the one with the yellow circle. Select Properties when that window opens first see if it is disabled, (at the bottom of the window) if it is select enabled. if it is enabled, click on the driver tab.

Now click on driver details. If it won't give details then it is the driver, try updating the driver, (may need to go online to do it). sometimes windows update will give you the driver if it is an onboard card

One other thing you can do is go to the command prompt and type sfc /repair (notice the space between the c and the /). It will ask for your win disk. put it in and click OK. this is system file checker. It will check for missing or corrupt files and repair or replace them from the disk

Just look for the correct sound driver for your sound card. Either a PCI one or the one on the motherboard. This should clear up the issue, sometimes the Microsoft generic drivers dont work.

You may need to reinstall again or when you start your computer or put the disc back in but run a repair scan. That MIGHT help. If it doesn't, call the computer company (if possible) or take it to a computer store and they might find something that's deep inside the memory.

I don't know what kind of sound device you have, but from your description, you do not have the correct drivers for your device. See the web site of the sound device manufacturer.
