you know when you wake up and you get that crusty stuff in the corner of your eye? i was just wondering what that was and how it got there.

Rheum is caused by your eyes draining a little when you sleep. Which is why you have mroe when you are sick. Your eyes are always producing this mucous. When eyes are open, the air dries them out. When your eyes are closed for a long period of time, the discharge builds up, runs out of the eyes and gets crusty...
or... the Sandman comes and sprinkles it in our eyes and it causes good dreams... hehehe. :)

Ummm, not sure why ya asked this in the celebrities forum, lol...but I think it's called "sleep".....and it's caused by moisture build up in your eyes as you sleep...it dries once it comes in contact with air...just a guess :)

It's sand! The sandman puts it there so you can go to sleep... seriously though, I think it's just dried tears. Your body cleanses itself while you sleep... must be true for your eyes too.

It is protein from your eyes that builds up over night. At least that is what my eye doctor told me.
