my dad was my hero always , and my mom became my best friend over the yrs, and they were there for me no matter what i had done in life , so i really couldn't compete with that for best treat, but as their lives were ending i was there and continuing try anything to keep it lasting as long as i could , i became exhausted just like others in the same boat ,i didn't give up till God took them home. and all i can think now is i wish i would have given them "best treats" daily . :( so if your parents are still here give them treats everyday, cuz its very hard to deal with the time when you can no longer do that .

Sent a hand written letter to my mother and step-father...It was a letter I wrote spontaneously simply from my mind and heart...they expressed that they cherish that letter.

It seems that ' gifts ' of the heart and that gifts given from a child that reflect them personally are the best gifts. My own kids are now 14, 17 and 20.

The gifts I cherish from my own kids the most are pictures they have drawn, something they cooked or baked for me, a simple note left for me, when they went for a walk with me, listened to music in the car together while enjoying the drive . . . It's the simple, not store bought, gifts that mean the most...to a parent...maybe to anyone.

For my mother, I am doing genealogy on my grandmother's side of the family. I have been working on and off at this for 4 years. My mother would not be able to do this herself, because she doesn't have a computer. Also, she lives to far away to check court house records. I decided to do this for her because she is 84 and I want her to know as much as possible about her ancestors. It also makes her happy and she has done so much for me it makes me happy too.

The best thing I did for my parents was showing them love. Everybody needs someone to show them that they care about them and appreciate all that they have done for them. I think showing love is the best gift or treat you can get from anyone.

This is just a small thing, but my parents loved it. On Valentine's Day, I sent my Mom a blooming plant from a flower shop and my Dad a balloon bouquet with candy tied to the bottom. I had both delivered to their work. I told them how much I love and appreciate them on their cards. They were both so surprised!

I send my mother flowers on my birthday thanking her for giving birth to me.

When my dad was retired, he was pretty lonely. I took a day off on his birthday to spend it with him. I didn't tell him and when he woke up he was completely suprised and very happy! I ordered lunch from his favorite restaurant and we rented a couple of his favorite movies. It was a great day. He passed away 4 years ago and I'm glad I did that.

wrote them a letter stating that i appreciate all they have done in raising me and certain morals and values that i try to pass on to my kids and just saying stuff that i thought they might have went through, and then i thanked them for everything. ya know when i took my kids to visit my mom (dad is deceased) in oregon as i always do , in the spare bedroom, she had that letter framed. and when she did get it she called me and i could hear her getting a little mistie eyed. she said she was proud and so on.

that was probably the best .... for her and me...................

Happy memories (mostly!) of parenting my brother and I, seeing us both in happy marriages, and those two marriages have now blessed them with five grandsons.
