How do spreadsheets invoke higher level thinking in a classroom setting?

I suppose it would depend on what is on the spreadsheets. Are the students figuring out how to put formulas into the spreadsheet? Are they reading the information so that they can interpret it and graph it? Are they taking information from surveys or interviews that they have made and then transferring that info to the spreadsheet?

Anyway, those are all ways that it can invoke higher level thinking; by taking basic information and manipulating it.

Check out the Towson website on teaching technology standards that lists how spreadsheets invoke higher level thinking http://tiger.towson.edu/~aguage1/istc301/standards.htm

Good Luck!!!
