I was wondering, is it very bad to hold it in? Like, to the point of crossing your legs? Then darting to the bathroom after a lecture? Because we are not allowed to go for up to 5 hours during a lecture as we are not let back in.. could this potentially harm someone? You see people sitting there bouncing in their seats...

Yes it can be bad. It can easily cause bladder infections! It seems like it might actually be illegal for someone to refuse to let you out or back into a lecture because of the need to go urinate. You should definitely check into that!

I agree that this is a harmful practice and you should bring it up with your administrator or dean. It's inhumane to demand that people go that long without using the bathroom, and some people have bladder conditions or other medical issues that make waiting that long impossible for them. Even if you're otherwise healthy, holding it in that long can increase your likelihood of getting a bladder infection, and it can also cause strain on the muscles that control the bladder, which could lead to stress incontinence in some people. Bring this up with the lecturer, and let them know that if the policy isn't changed you will go as far up the administrative ladder as it takes!

Yes it can lead to bladder and/or kidney infections. That is absurd. If you come down with an infection get a note from your doctor, take it to the administration office. This is absurd.

it is harmful. if you hold it in for a long time, u might end up with a cancer in the future. also, your bladder might pop, and you might die from poisoning your other organs.
